  • Fuel cock for 80 liter GT Tank

    Hi

Does anyone know what the difference between a standard fuel cock and one for the 80 liter tank is?

In the parts catalogue are different part numbers listed, but there should not be a big difference, does it?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Thomas,

They are exactly the same except for a small brass collar that is soldered around the tubes which holds a rubber seal that presses to the top of inner housing found in GT tanks. This creates vacuum for the scavenger tube to opperate. I'll take some shots for you.

      Hi Justin

Oh now it's clear how it should be. Some pics would be very helpful.
Could you tell me what distance the brass collar is soldered?

Thanks you very much for your help!

        Hi Thomas,

Here is what the collar looks like. Again seals off the lower reserve tube so it will draw through the scavenger tube.

I had a couple of copies machined some time back. I marked the original height with tape and I can get that for you later today. What's more critical is your seal thickness to ensure a crush fit once the pet cock is fully seated.

Here is the old rubber seal I found with it. Pretty sure its original.

A shot of the housing and scavanger tube to help illustrate.

        Hope this helps.

          Hi Justin

Thanks that helps a lot. The last years I just had a standard fuel cock with a small fuel tube from the top. See my picture. This had worked too but it's maybe not safe enough.

What kind of seal do you use?

From the base to the top edge of my tape is right about 29mm. The thickness of your seal however is going to be the determining factor as to whether its in the right spot or not. Not sure what I was going to use as a seal but after looking at your setup a section of hose should do the trick.
