Its all starting to come together; so much time and effort! Looking good.

    • Wow Scott that second photo down does show the rust you encountered. Over in England so many 356 cars were like that in 15-20 years! Really intensive work to remedy that but you look to be doing really well. I guess like Justin you correct one area then move on to the next. But... your experience goes the same way, every job builds the experience up so in the end you not so surprised at what you find each time you start a new area!

Well done and nice clear pics!

      • Roy - there has been more metal replaced than I care to contemplate. This one spent some wet days on the east coast of Maine at one point in its life. And here in the north America the drivers side is the worst due to salt and sand in the winter.

started to tackle the drivers side now.

Looking good! The wheel arch is turning out very nice. A good supply of cleco's there, looks the "hell raiser" with all those installed. lol

            • With all front pieces shaped and positioned time to do a final media blast of doors and fenders. I can’t count how many times I have taken the fender on and off but I am ready to weld it in for the final time

Congratulations on your well earned win Scott. Its coming along nicely.

            • Right side fenders welded in and dressed. A few high spots to tackle later with heat or shrinking disc. On to the left side next.

It looks great Scott! What a sense of relief and accomplishment you must have felt once you finally buttoned that junction all up. Rest and repeat, keep up the great progress.

            • Thanks Justin - yes it does feel good to see large sections come together and more items in the done column. Left side done now as well. Click image for larger version

              • Question _ I’m not sure how to finish off the transition between the bottom ledge of the splash panel and the closing panel on the closing panel of the longitudinal. At the moment the bottom ledge abruptly ends as it joins up with the end closing of the end of the longitudinal. Anyone have pictures.

                    • Working on little tidy up jobs on the nose. Refined horn grill openings and positioned and welded in the horn/grill bracket. Found best position from lower horn grill.

                      • Took some time to position the front nose porsche script emblem. Tricky finding correct placement but got it fitted. The next challenge was putting in the backer clip plate. This is no longer available so I had to recreate. I used a piece of metal drilled out for the emblem pins but large enough to allow the metal fasteners (pal clips) to set inside of the hole with a bit of movement. They were lightly held in place with screws to properly position them then overlaid the metal strip and then welded in place capturing the metal clips. Click image for larger version
