You can actually do both, run some silicon aircraft tubing under the added bracket. You will need to make a reducer, but some heater/ defrost air is better than none. This ducting is reasonably priced, and works well. I have used this to replace all the foil covered paper ducts.

The hose is a good idea,it looks like the one i use for connecting the heat exchanger to the valve of a 911.
So i will go this direction, adjusting it here and there.
Thanks again for all the help everybody!

Nice looking Jig fixtures Dave! Seems you're well prepared for any repairs you might face. I've seen that Wilhoit modification before. If I remember correctly its a piece of 16 gauge that's used for it.

Justin's welding of his cam heads inspired me to some welding of my own.
Would like to try to mate a 5 speed to this project, wonder if this could work.
Anybody on the board tried it this way?

Looking great Dave! The extent of the chassis work puts me directly in mind of the beautiful recreation work Neil Blaber is doing with his car.
Love the bell housing graft! I don't think its been done this way before and as 356 transmission get even more valuable I don't think anyone will sacrifice one to follow you. Dean welds on the extra material needed at the motor mount area then the holes and relief are machined in. I'll let you in on a little secret I learned completely by the accident of having that particular transmission on hand. A 1969 magnesium version 901 transmission's bell housing for whatever the reason has all those reliefs and embossments in it for an almost direct fit with a 356 hoop. I simply drilled the 4 holes in the reliefs and had the hoop bolted right up to it. Anyway, its another way of skinning this cat. Keep up the great work!!!!!!

                      Hi Justin
                      Thanks for the awnser.
I bought a damaged gear case at ebay,it was only 125$ so perfect to cut the part out.
The complete original drivetrain i still have.
But to be honest,i think the 'originality' fase is out of the window.
This chassis is just to far gone to presume that.
I must say i am starting to have fun whit it,because there is more freedom because of that standpoint.
Might you know of a link to more info on a SWB 911 set up for a 356?
I can find zero on the web about this, and finding out all yourself is a long route and i would like to avoid mistakes.
I think i have all covered, only wondering how to setup the rear shocks.

That was a good donor candidate then. As far as the 901 SWB conversion itself its very straight forward. The original torsion housing can be used in its stock location with the only the addition of the banana arm pivot points required. I've seen some where the stock rear 356 upper shock mount is still utilized with the 901 trailing arms. It may work okay but the geometry is obviously different from swing Axle to IRS so I find it a little half-assed. Porsche moved and angled the upper mounts inward for a reason which is why if it where me I'd graft in (or fabricate) the correct 901 cross-member with shock mounts to properly complete the conversion. You're doing a full on Hot Rod so you have all the liberty in the world.

Pics found from a '52 shell 'outlaw' project that had the later front adjustable t-bar tubes added and the whole "modified" rear from an early 900-series donor so the IRS suspension and 5-spd could be used. The original plan was for a Polo motor, but a Massive IV 2.4 was finally installed.

The rims will be wider tough, and i would like to go to 16 inch.

I found the way to go to stock width by using a 100 mm flange on the gearbox, and a 944 bearing house that i will use on the swb rear trailing arms.
