The fun thing about going to Cars N Coffee is that you never know what cars will be there, the excitement of which does make it a little easier to roll out of bed on a Saturday morning before 7AM. I got lucky and saw this Gmund this past Saturday. I didn't stop to talk with the owner or his wife but I did hear him tell another guy that this Gmund was #50. IMHO, it was REALLY cool of him to bring it out for everyone to see.

Thanks for posting these Pictures Trevor! This car has such an airplane like feel to it around the dash/ front cowl area. Wonder how hard it would be to find another one of those chrome strips for the spit-window? Thanks again! Justin

You're welcome Roy. I love the Gmunds, so pure. I've seen the ad for the 750 Gmund, maybe on The Samba or the Registry, I forget. You should check on the other car, you never know...

You CA guys and girls are so lucky. You have the best weather and car shows. We have a 1x month Caffeine and Octane and it is a good show, but we have to wait all month for one darn show and hope for no rain. We get a mixed crowd as well, lots of fun.

Ohka-a-ay... I take it that it was not unusual. Thanks for the info; one less bit of the bunch of stuff I don't know about the early cars.

Now, who can pantomime the year/transitional model the trafficators ceased to be provided.

My limited experience tells me that they were omitted once the 356 went into real production in 1950. I believe its just a Gmund thing and I don't recall ever seeing a Pre-A with these?????

Correct Justin. I'm thinking of putting some semaphores in my 57 Coupe, a nod to the old school.

First picture is of Jeff Zwart's Gmund (same one as Joel posted).
Second picture is of a Gmund at the factory, you can see the nose of it on the right of Jack's picture.
Third is of the Gmund coupe that Road Scholars restored.
Fourth is a Gmund coupe that recently got restored by the Prototype Museum.

Interesting note though, the unrestored Gmund coupe of Otto Mathe, now Seinfeld, doesn't have them.
