Three weeks after Paul Ernst Strahle, always with Hahni as co-pilot, enter his 2016 repaired in the Nurburgring 1000 kilometers (May 27th)

Strahle had race number 21
3 other Abarth Carrera
car race number 20 for Edgar Barth/Herbert Linge
car race number 22 for Koch/Mahle
car race number 24 for Ben Pon/Rob Slotemaker
The weather was awfull with a lot of rain
Three of the 4 Abarth Carrera did finish nthe race
Ben Pon was 6th overall and first in the 1.6 L class

Koch Mahle were 9th and Strahle Hahni 12th

By July 14th/15th Paul Ernst Strahle was at the Solitude race track for the sport cars race of the German GP

The race was won by a 250 GTO Ferrari
Gehrard Koch on another Abarth finish 2nd
Paul Ernst Strahle finish 3rd ahead of several 3 liters sport cars

And now 1963 who will be the last year of racing for Paul Ernst Strahle
As for th precedent year, Paul Ernst started the year by sending 1016 to Dakar to race the Dakar 6 hours by April 7th
For the occasion he share the wheel with Ludwig Blendl
I have had problem finding pics for this race won by a 250 GTO Ferrari
Strahle was 3rd overall

By May 5th 1016 was back to Europe for the Targa Florio
Paul Ernst Strahle was competing for the 5th times
For this event he act as Porsche factory pilot and was given the Abarth Carrera 1018 with the bright new 2 liters Fuhrmann engine
Strahle shared this car with the local Pucci and had race number 76
1016 was there too but driven by Gehardt Koch/Von Schroter with race number 62
Strahle achieve his best result ever (5th over all) with a car who was already 4 years old which is a lot for a racing car and proove how good the Abarth Carrera were
1016 who had kept the 1.6 L finish 12th overall
On the contrary of the Dakar 6 hours this race is extremely well documented

The 1963 Targa Florio was an important race for Porsche KG who had entered three new cars
car race number 160 a 718 RS61 GTR with hard top for Jo Bonnier/Carlo Abate who won the race ahaead of a Ferrari Dino

A bright new 356 B Carrera 2000 GTS car race 80 for Edgar Barth/Herbert Linge who finish 3rd overall

A 718 ES 61 prototyp with a 8 cylinders engine race number 156 for the Italain team Maglioli/Baghetti who finish 7th overall

By May 19th Paul Ernst Strahle attend the 1963 Nurburgring 1000 kilometers

For this race Strahle was again sharung the whee l with Gerhardt Koch but the car was 1020 (the last Aba

1020 was the last Abarth Carrera built.
Therefore Strahle has own three Abarth Carrera : 1002-1016 and 1020

I have had difficulty to find pictures of Strahle car race number 26
I only know that Strahle/Koch finish 10th overall
It was the last race for Strahle
Porsche had already turn the Abarth Carrera page, and got their best result in that race with the new 356 B Carrera 2000 GS driven by four great pilots, Ben Pon, Herbert Linge, Edgar Barth and Hans Joachim Walter with car race number 31
