Emil Enzmann was a generalist doctor
He had a passion for new technologies and in 1953 he decided to built for himself a sportcar with a plastic body on a VW chassis
After 3 years of research the first car was ready and he decided to exhibit it at the 1957 Frankfurt car show
The car had a great success and Emil Enzmann took several orders
he decided to call the car : Enzmann 506
    Enzmann as its name
506 the stand number at the Frankfurt car show
One of Emil idea to succeed to overcome the lack of rigidity of the early plastic bodies, was to suppress the doors
A hole was press fitted in the body to help the pilot and the passenger
    to reach their seat

From 1957 to 1968 Emil Enemann built around 100 cars
The production had to stop in 1968 as VW refused to supplied bare chassis
For a while the production continued with Enzmann buying new VW Bug just to use their chassis but the final prices were too high
To day a large share of these cars still exist

Most of the Enzmann had VW engines, but some were fitted with Porsche pushrod engines

Thats all for Heini Walter who after a serious accident with Suater Porsche early 1957 decided that "original is better than copy" and bought first 2 550 (Andrew say 016 some litterature say 010) for the 1957 hill climb season and 550-042 ex Ben Pon for the 1958 season
Heini Walter was Swiss Champion this 2 years
After the 550 Heini move to the 718RSK and then to the 904 GTS but that another story

The Gordini-Porsche was built by a guy named Kurt (or Curt in Argentina) Delfosse
Kurt Delfosse, although he had a French name, was born in East Germany
He was pilot in the Luftwafe during the 2nd WW
After the war east Germany became under the Russian control
Kurt Delfosse started his own business dedicated to cars
He built a VW based race car
