  • We continue Claude Storez carreer by the 1955 year

For Claude 1955 was a busy year with many races for both the DB team, and as one of the Auguste Veuillet team pilot, mainly for races in Marocco and Algeria both countries still at that time part of the French empire with many rich French farmers ie potential Porsche cars buyers
Claude attented the 1955 Agadir GP February 26th/27th
The Agadir GP is a very well documented race
Mainly on this forum with the argumentation between Steve and Andrew about Annie Bousquet 550 being 550-05 or not
For that race Claude was driving another Auguste Veuillet spyder (ie French blue car) 550-08
Only 14 cars entered this race
Annie (car race number 40) had one of her numerous accident and was DNF
Claude (car race number 44 finish 3rd overall and 1st in class 1.5 liter) behind a Ferrari Monza 3.5 l and a Gordini

      • And for the fun the very popular pic of Annie Bousquet at the wheel of her mysterious spyder on the starting grid
For me Annie was a very nice looking and attractive girl, but not a great pilot
May be I am wrong thincking that, as on the starting grid Annie was on the first row far ahead of Claude Storez but also nat the arrival she had crash her car and Claude was 3rd

          • Claude did better than for his first attempt and finish 35th overall over 279 finishing cars, and was 1st in class 0.750 L
1955 was the year where Mercedes Benz had 5 of his cars in the 10 better making 1-2 and 3, the winner being Stirling Moss with Denis Jenkinson
This year Mille Miglia were celebrating the 60th anniverssary of this victory

              • May 1955 was a very tough month for Claude
May 5th he was at Angouleme with the DB for the Circuit des Remparts and 3 days later May 8th, at SPA Francorchamps for the SPA 12 hours with this time the 550-08 with a 6th overall and a 1st in class 1.6 L
By May 29th he was at Hyeres near Toulon on the Mediterranean coast with the DB with a DNF and the next day he was in Algeria at the Bougie Grand Prrix with the 550-08 and a 2nd overall and 1st in class
Sorry no pics found for these races

                • On the contrary of what I wrote yesterday I work a bit and found some interesting pics
Indeed the 1955 Hyeres 12 hours race is well documented again because Annie Bousquet did take part to this race with Jaroslav Juhan
Once again she was DNF but her car had rudge wheels similar to the ones she had in Agadir

                  • Hyeres is a famous sea resort in between Toulon and Saint Tropez on the Mediterranean sea
Most of its inhabitants are old retired people
To gave then a bit of spectacle a 12 hours car race was organised five times from 1951 to 1955
A 7 kilometers long race track was designed in the city with a triangle shape

Once again the engine failed and he was DNF
Claude took immediately a plane at the Hyeres airport to fly to Alger and the day after he finish 2nd of that race behind Louis Rosier Ferrari 750 with a 550
This time I really did not found anything on this secondary race

                            • To be complete I have also discovered that in April of that same 1955 year Claude Storez did take part in a non world championship formula 1 race
Indeed by April 11th he was in Pau to assist at the first race of the new DB formula 1 race car.
DB was there with 2 cars
The official pilot of one of these 2 cars called Martin decide to give up
                              Claude decided to replacde him
After one trun he was last of the 16 starting cars and had to retire shorhly after
