Now for the interior refurbishment. Started to cut the leather today. The Spinneybeck Veal Skins were not as good as expected. The weave was fine but the smooth had a dye fade right down the spine. I received the skins back in December but did not unroll them and inspect them on receipt. My BAD.

You would think that at $4300.00 for two hides they would be good. So much for super quality leather. They did sell me another at a reduced price but I am still pissed.

Dash is done, weave and smooth looks good.

Doors are covered, we used the weave for the cards and smooth on the handles and window cap. Should be a one of a kind.

Having to fabricate the AC ducts for the lower dash. The car came with AIR and the ABS Plastic the Knee panel is so brittle it cracks when you look at it. Going to replicate it from aluminum and cover it with the woven leather.

The package shelf has a layer of Dynamat, covered by Dynapad to make up for the thickness of the original tar paper and horse hair. It will be woven. Since we will replace the rear carpet with leather, everything aft of the B pillar is padded and will be covered with smooth leather.

New black head liner and German square weave carpet from Linda, at Global Upholstery Supply will finish it off. May be done before this years Parade I hope.

I was trying to copy a Singer 911 interior, using this photo as a "target" . I have had this 912 for 50 years, I figured it's time to up grade the inside.

The woven leather worked as expected, I like it but it is spendy.

The local interior guy did a good job. Everything from scratch. Three hides and the weave roll.

He had a car on the lawn at Pebble Beach last year, and is working on a Stutz Roadster for this years concourse. Slow but it's an interior, seats in a week.

Seat bottom, not like original but I like the pleats across instead of long wise. Maybe two more weeks I can get the glass back in and be back on the road. Still need to carpet the trunk, but it progresses. Can't believe this all started as a finger nail size rust spot, that was not even in the structure.

                                John,

Your "quick fix" has really turned out nicely!! I really like all the details that you've put into the dash, door cards, and seats. Great job.
