    Hi All,
I thought I would post a few pics of the beast for you.

I'm actually the second owner of the car. Bought in 68 and drove her for four years when, I was heading off for a rally, the fan belt broke. Damn.

I pushed her back in the garage and she has been patient since then. Some 41 years. She's a T5 60 Roadster, never crashed, bent or otherwise harmed. I do not think the engine has been out, certainly not since I have owned her. Somewhat untouched.

So, I'm thinking, replace the belt, put some air in the tyres, fire her up,,, Nahh,, maybe not.
Anyway, thanks for all of the the pics Justin. Great input into my restore project for next year.
    Cheers

Murf, Welcome and thanks for sharing the pic's and story. Ya put some new rubber on her and give her a good service and going over and drive the wheels off her. They are original only once. George

      Hey Murf,
Thanks for sharing these photos and details of your baby! You parked it 41 years ago due to a broken fan belt? Are you sure that was all? Sounds more like a change in life's priorities; a growing new family perhaps? The interior shot really shows off what a time capsule it is(the decals from'71,'72) very neat! My vote would be to service all the systems, a new set of tires then drive and enjoy as is! Don't let another decade pass you by without driving her! What a great car! Thanks and Welcome once again Murf! Justin
BTW: are you located in the US?

          Welcome Murf!
I agree... unless you fried the motor when the fan belt came off I would check all mechanicals, give it a good cleaning and enjoy for a while.

I don't know how old you are, but I am 70 and drive my 356B coupe every chance I get. I have thought about having her restored, but that takes quite a bit of time and I would miss that much time of driving. Maybe the next owner can restore her after I die!!

                Murf,

I bet secretly you have been pushing that car in and out of the garage and giving it a polish every now and then. Maybe you just didn't notice the red light on and the temp gauge when the belt went?

I have had my car since the 60's and they get very dusty and dirty in garage if left alone and the brakes they usually seize up if left for years.

Looks like you have a nice car that will give you a lot of fun again. I hope of course the engine wasn't harmed but anyway its a car well worth while spending some money on

                Best of luck indeed!

                  Hi Roy,
Thanks for the note. Re. the engine light, I was less than 200 m from home when the light popped on so I doubt very much any engine damage occurred. One thing I neglected to mention is that she was originally a Toronto car and hence all the lower 2 inches will most likely need replacing. One of the reasons why I enjoy Justin's pics.
For keeping that Porsche feeling alive on a constant basis, I have an 85 944 delivered at the factory on the morning of my 35th birthday (you do the math, lol). Probably not worth much these days but to me, priceless. She sits beside the Roadster in the garage. (which is in BC, Justin)
                  Cheers

                    Murf,

Sounds like your engine will be okay if it didn't knock. I had a good friend who flew Spitfires over here for 4 years and he lived in Toronto ( called 'Meeting place' in the years occupied by one of the tribes so I was told.) I have photo's he sent me of the winter snow. I believe everything you say about the bottom 5 inches! His car would almost be covered if left out!

Really look forward to seeing your progress even if its slow. Justins advice and photos are really helpful in restoration. Even if you don't do it yourself the rebuilder could look on the site to see how its done. Nothing like this when I did the work many years ago.

                    Roy

                      OK MURP,
                      I'm late in checking in-Sorry!
Have we determined your location yet?
I have a 1961 T5 Roadster like yours also, been restored about 4 years ago and I have had it for 49 years.
The dash pic looks like mine used to-radio below the dash, never a ashtray and I didn't put the rally plaques on it.
Lets see if I can find a pic ot two or 3!

I didn't do the work myself.
Lufteknic here in Richmond, VA did it.
I have a thread on this site as to when I did the seat covers last June.
Check it out. They came from Autos International.
My car today was done in stages-NOT all at once.
                              $$$ you know.
You have a great car that there are not many left of the few that were built!
                              You can double your investment.

By the way pick up a copy of Hemmings Sports and Exotic magazine-February 2014 issue that should hit the newstands around Christmas-I just got the January 2014 issue last week.
My Roadster will have a article in it with more pictures done by the Editor David LaChance!

                              Thanks for looking!
