  • Ratty Black A from UK

    Hello to everyone.
I have been visiting this site for ages and its about time I posted something.
So I thought at least a hello and a picture.
I have owned this car for about 17 years and is my second 356A
Its a 1959 and previously came from European Collectibles.
I have had fitted, new floorboards, rockers, heater tubes and the panel under the fuel tank.
The engine is an 1600SC, 616 case
As you can see by the picture , I'm trying to keep the exterior original...

Welcome along here Karl and thanks for sharing your car with us. I love the patina on this one. Any photos of the interior?

        Thanks Vance and Justin.
This lock down has meant that after many years I have been able to fix the dials.
I got the temperature gauge to read something at last, with the thanks of Roy Mawbey and Paul Devern sending me a colour copy of a wiring diagram.
The engine as far as I know is a standard SC lump. Solex 40 PII carbs. I fitted an aluminiun oil cooler under the fan shroud when I got it as the original was leaking. The case is a 616/16.
The interior has no carpet , but does have CoCo Mats.
The seats are original although I do have one of those lovely bench seats for it.......
I made a bar to go across the rear inner wheel wells to mount child harnesses.
Ive just bought some LEDs for the dials but still yet to fit those.

Keep up the good work every one.
        Love this site.
        Karl

        Hi Karl
Great car, fab patina maybe I should just clear-coat my RHD 59 at least it would get it on the road sooner.

Where in the UK are you?
If you're ever in Surrey (now lockdown is easing) pop in and say hello.
        Regards
        Drew

Hi Drew , I'm in the Midlands but used to live in South London, which would have been easier to visit you.
My parents still live down south so I shall have to try and pop in when I visit them next.
          Thanks for the offer,

          Karl

            Karl,

Just looked at the photos of your car. Its a nice car I can tell that just looking at the front bonnet gaps. Looks so original in many aspects. Well done on what you are doing!
