RS 61 Recreation

I have been here in the background for a while and thought it was time to Post up my project I have worked on for the last 9 years.

I always loved the look of the RS60/61 and no one made an accurate replica so I decided to make one.
I tracked down the owner of an original car and he agreed to let me make a 3D scan of the car in Germany. After two further visits to make templates and take measurements I was ready!
Fast forward and the car is on the road and I am very pleased with the result.

Nicely done! Did you do the car yourself? Can you show more pictures of the buck? What is powering it?

A friend of mine made the body shell, Bexhill Classics did the paint work and MK Auto Upholstery did the seats and trim.
Everything else was me. Here is another picture of the buck:


It has a dry sumped 2.1lt 914 engine and transmission.

What an amazing and highly detailed build! Short of a chassis # I think you nailed it! One of Jacques new 4-cam engines would be the icing on the cake here for sure! Thank you for sharing your build and Welcome along!

The car I scanned was 718-055, Carel De Beaufort's LeMans entry.




The chassis in the cockpit is very accurate. I had to modify the rear chassis to accommodate the 914 running gear but it is very close to original.
The RS61 718-076 has been converted to wishbone front suspension, so I decided to go that route from the start. I felt it would give a more tuneable geometry.
