Sunroof fitting

Hello. I have recently purchased a fibreglass sunroof clip from Ric at RustyTubs (www.rustytubs.com) to fit to my speedsterclinic 356 coupe in the UK. The clip comes in two parts, the roof with hole and the sliding panel. Currently there is no hardware for putting it all together (they are manufacturing the parts at the moment) but it will be a while and I need to get this cut in asap so as not to hold up the build. I know other people have purchased the kit and fitted it themselves using Porsche parts and VW parts etc. Im hoping someone on here may be able to offer any suggestions or ideas? I could really do with a diagram for a 1952 - 1957 manual sunroof but cant seem to locate one via Google. They all seem to be ones with cables, this one is based on a much earlier design. Pics below. Hey Chris,

Thanks for joining us and welcome along here! Sounds like its going to be a pretty cool project. I'll try to find some info on those early sliders but I do have direct access to a later 59 S/R assembly I can take detailed pics of it if you think it might help. Please think about starting a dedicated thread on your build and keep us all up to date on your progress.

Here's a few shots of that 59. Its defintitely a slider with no cables; just a latch mechanism. Though not a V-S/R like your building I have to believe that they differ only in slight detail. Take a look.

Our customer in Belgium used a 911 core. All electric.
We have attached comparison images to show simple figment.

Rusty Tubs have kindly cut the kit down for me as we didn't need the entire roof and it needs shipping over to me and is now a bit smaller.





I have been scouring the internet for a bit more info and someone on Facebook had posted a coll video a guy replacing a roof to a coupe with the same sunroof. I managed to get a couple of screenshots which shows what the sub-structure looks like which is really helpful.

My roof clip is on its way from the US to the UK via FedEx and should arrive Monday (pretty quick). Then its up to Speedsterclinic to discuss fitting it.

I really wanted to make a huge shout out to Ric at Rusty Tubs (www.rustytubs.com) who has been amazing. Unbelievably helpful. Way above the call of duty. I must have drowned him in emails & photos trying to get advice on fitting it and other bits needed. I really cannot recommend him and his team highly enough. So thanks Ric!

Ill post more on the fitting etc in a week or so for anyone who is interested in following it and / or maybe doing it themselves.
