Well Folks,
RPM was here this weekend and it is gone till next year!
The thought last year was that it perhaps had run its course.
NOT SO!
We had 123 cars on the lawn this year.
Here are a few from over the tops of the 356 contingent.
Saturday morning started out with the Tops Only Concours Judging at 9:30 AM. After your car was looked over by the judges you then could take a look over the field of the rest of the entries.
Road Scholars http://roadscholars.com/ from North Carolina brought two cars to show. One a surviving Rally car of perhaps 20 made and one that took 6th place in the 1974 LeMans race.
In the evening at Our Awards Dinner, Cam Ingram-co owner of RS, was the guest speaker and talked on restorations, a subject many of us are familair with.
But I get ahead of my self!
The 356s were composed of Pat Daily's 1963 Coupe 'Fast Freida", a very nice Irish Green 1964 SC Sunroof that had just been put together, a T6 Cab with Dealers License Plates on it , my 1961 Roadster and a replicar 'Speedster'.
Replicars may be displayed but not judged!
The 1964 Coupe took 1st in class while my Roadster took 2nd and was also given the Peoples Choice Award. You could have knocked me over with a feather. Since it has been restored, in 2010, we have been honored with the Peoples Choice Award at RPM in 2010, 2013 and 2014.
Here are the 356s.
Another car that was shown was Dave Cotrells' 2013 Porsche Parade Concours Winning 911.
Dave is a local business man here in Richmond with a detail shop called Concours Detailing (of course) and a couple of car washes, i.e. Dave's Auto Spa that he opens up on Friday evening for the RPMers to clean their cars in preparation to the next days events.
I could continue to bore you with more pics and the auto cross that was held today at Southside Speedway, a 1/3 mile Bull Ring that runs Late Model Stock Cars on Friday nights.
They like the Porsches and RPM so we get the track each year!
Ya'all come on down next year!
Ya hear?
Dick
