The 2014 Edition of the Tour Automobile has started yesterday Tuesday April 8th from the Grand Palais in Paris to end next Saturday April 12th in Marseille with stops at Dijon, Mulhouse, Aix les Bains and Valence

Out of several hundreds candidates 300 cars have been accepted
To be eligible to compete a car has to be of the same type than one having raced in the original Tour de France race up to 1974
The 300 cars are split into 2 categories
Competition (Historical race cars) who raced in real time
Regularity : cars have to respect a choosen average speed
42 cars are Porsches
6 356 in the competition group + 8 in regularity
1 off 550 spyder in regularity
1 off 904 GTS in competition
2 off 906 in competition + 1 in regularity
11 off 911 in competition + 3 off in regularity
3 off 914/6 GT in competition

Most of the pilots are amators but some professionnal pilots as Eric Comas (Lancia Stratos) ex-formula one driver and Jurgen Barth (ex-Porsche race dept engineer) is there on a 911 RSR from the Sturrgart museum
