  • Turkey bowl car show Langhorne, Pa. Nov. 30

Just passing this along. Yes it's a VW show & yes I'll probably be the only P-car there. Yes it will be cold (35* for a high) but the swap is supposed to be inside the service area at the dealership with cars outside. Gotta keep runnin the car until the roads get salted. Should be interesting as both air & water coolers were invited.

    Saturday November 30th 10a.m - 2p.m
indoor*car show, swap meet, flea Market
Admission fee=2 new unwrapped toys, benefiting Toys For Tots.
    1862 e. Lincoln highway, langhorne, pa 19047
    call 215-741-4100 for details

If you live near here be sure to stop by with your car preferably.

Wow, I'm excited! I'll try to keep it short. Arrived at Langhorne VW today, about 25 cars there already. Start talking to a guy about my car & he mentions he has a 56 Speedster that his Dad bought new. Oh yea, I also have a 57' coupe he says. I wanted to bring it here but couldn't get it running, I've got xxxx trying to get it started now. Sure enough here it comes & they open up the showroom doors & they pull it in. Turns out he owns the dealership. It gets better!

He then takes Tim, (my son) & I over to his personal shop. Gives us the grand tour & shows us everything & talks about it all. Shared many stories & photos. This was just awesome! What a pleasure to meet him.

Here is his Speedster. Owned originally by Horace, his Dad & now by him, Chip. It was sold away & he found it & bought it back. The car was driven, it was raced, it was hillclimbed. For awhile when he was a kid it was their only family car, then later on he dated his wife in it, etc, so much history, so very cool! I love stuff like this!

This is a photo that was displayed with the car. I believe he said it was at New Hope in 2007? Not sure though.

Next is the 57 coupe. It actually raced against his Dad in the Speedster. I forget the original owners name but it was cool too. Roll bar, gt seats, aluminum Carrera decklid, etc. I went to post pics & realize I don't have any full shots, grrr.

Edit update -- The coupe was Charlie Beidler's G Production 356 Coupe now owned by Chip. Very active in PHA (Penn. hillclimb assoc.)

How about a custom? I heard so many stories that I can't remember names & dates. 289, corvette rear, hand built. He found this car in pieces with the rear frame section cut off. Got original pictures of it, blew them up, measured & scaled off the pics to rebuild the rear frame during the restoration.

Misc. shop, you can see the back of the 57 coupe here. Original GT exhaust from back in the day sitting on shelf plus vintage pewter mugs & bowls (trophies). Last pic is a Porsche TAG block? From formula one? I need to research this more.

A few show pics now. I spent most of the time with Chip so I really didn't get to talk to any show goers & by the time I went to take pics a bunch had already left. A small swap meet was held also. A really nice day. Thanks to Langhorne VW & Old School Euros for putting this together.

A nice Vette in the showroom, 74,000 original miles. Not sure whos this is but not Chips. They are also a Fisker dealer & have three left. If you have followed Fisker they filed bankruptcy which is why this showroom is mostly unused at this time. The VW showroom was at the other end of the complex. Fisker was recently purchased so we shall see what happens?

Great photos and details as usual Mic! Loved the background story on the speedster. The Fisker is actually a very nice looking car, if it had late model corvette or Cadillac running gear it would really be sweet!
                        Thanks again! Justin
