Bill, I'm sure you wont have any trouble getting an invite. You should drive your woody out here. Davidson, Mooresville, Concord or any of the towns north of Charlotte would be a great place for that type of meeting. There is a huge car nut culture around here that would embrace that meeting.
They have some recent laws now where new visiting Yankee's don't need full time escorts.

Tom invites the entire National Woodie Club by advertising in the monthly magazine several months in advance.

I have a friend in Sonoma who has taken his street rod woodie across the country a couple of times.

I assure you I would be deeply concerned trying to get the 65 year old bone stock flathead all the way (and back) across the country. It's been done. I'm not sure I'd be up to it, less sure of the car and then there is Mrs. Sampson.

My buddy who lived on Lake Norman was born in Newport Beach. You should have seen the look on his face when I threatened to tell his neighbors where he was from

He's on Hilton Head now but DOES provide me the necessary escort service, claiming he's a local.

When I was in the Charlotte area I was amazed at the car culture. As we drove around I was told: "There's Tony Stewart's house, there's Joe Gibbs house, welcome to Hendrick Motor Sports, Earnhardt is just down the road, etc etc." I have NEVER seen so much expensive hardware in one place as when we went to qualifying for the Memorial Day race (after, of course, our successful "climb" of Mt. Mitchell). I truly thought there might be a billion dollars worth of "stuff" around that track. Amazing.

I think a great conversion all the way around and it looks fantastic sitting on that truck frame.

One thing for sure this is one controversial conversion where the value has actually been increased. I don't know if its worth 75K but its at least worth a solid 25K where as the original donor car in perfect shape can be had for less than 7K. I may have to build one!
