        • Rollover: Ernst Lautenschlager 550-0033 GP Portugal.
          It happened in the Training.
Next day Lautenschlager started the race and finished at 3. place.
They repaired the car until the night before.

          • I thought it was 550-0033. They did well to get it ready for the next day...

            • It's a wonder he survived the rollover with virtually no protection.

              • Happy Friday and the car of the day is 550-0020. Originally owned by racer Art Bunker who owned a Porsche/VW dealership and is more known for his VW Bunker transporter to transport his Porsches around to races on, than his great racing ability. He did enter 0020 in the 1955 12H Sebring amongst other races. As discussed here, the car was rebodied with the panels from 550-0079 and has recently been sold to a collector who also owns and races a 910. Next year there are plans to get it restored back to the configuration of the Bunker Spyder

                    • Spent the day finishing all the interior aluminium work on my spyder, ready for the spring concourse season. Just a few things to clean up and it is ready for the 356 concourse for the end of month

Today is 550-0021. Originally a Max Hoffman delivered spyder, it was owned and raced by Dick Hyland. Today it lives in Italy and is a regular entry in the Mille Miglia. A clone of it is in a well known collection in Belgium.

                        • 550-0022 is a special spyder for me as I helped reunite the original engine which was in a 356 outlaw, back to where it belongs. It was originally owned and raced by Norman Christianson and entered into the 1955 12h Sebring and also raced at Cumberland, Thompson and Nassau when owned by Don McKnought. It currently resides in Italy and has run the Mille Miglia a number of times

                          • The engine out of Dean Jeffries '57 custom coupe, I would guess. Any info as to how it ended up in Dean's car?

                            • Jack Walter bought the motor in 1973 when he was looking for a 4-cam engine for his Carrera coupe - Ernie Cabrera knew a guy in Jacksonville that had some spare engines and he acquired it for him. He is a great guy as he didn't even hesitate on doing the engine swap - he says we are only custodians of these cars...

                              • Great Story Andrew. They built a nice crate for it to ride in. Best of luck at the show with your 550.
