Question for Andrew
Found the below pic of the famous French Porsche pilot Robert Dutoit with his co-pilot x.Estager (sorry don't know his first name) at the 1960 Coupe des Alpes Rallye
Is the car a poor 550 ?
If so have you heard of this car ?
Do you know chassis number and where it it to day ?

If you have photos of the chassis plate on the frame, the Porsche build plate from the inner passenger wheel well and the Wendler plate from next to the fuel tank, I can help verify if they are original.
I would be very cautious with this build as there is no history on the car both racing or ownership, unless they have given you anything which could be a starting point to find the correct provenance.
If the car has a new body, do you know who the coachbuilder was - if they are reputable they would verify the car first.
Happy to work with you on this one. If there are things you don't want to post, you can email me - spyder@type550.com
thanks Andrew

All I know it has been fully restored over the last 5 years.
Don't know if within its lifetime body has been modified /
changed or whatever.
That is why I am desperately looking for more background info on it.

Why do you think this is 0071? I always thought Masterson's car was a modified RS60. Arska - does the car currently have a 550 body?

Hi Arska
I have these three pics as being from 550-0071, but I'm not sure (with V engine ...)

Andrew,
thanks for your reply. Main interest is to gather
as much info as I can, as I am in the process of
buying it.
I do have some info but at this point of time can't share it yet.
As moving down the process of purchase, I will give info
Back to this community.

Hi Arska,
550-0071 is one of the mystery cars. Most of the listings in the Carrera book are incorrect. It has Austin Conley as an owner, but he owned and raced 550-0017 at the time. I don't have any photos of it, only its engine from a few years ago. What is your interest in the car?
Andrew

Hi,
I have studied all sorts of lists which are online available
and due to a project I am currently working on I was
wondering if anybody knows something like
- previous owner
- race history
- accidents
- photos
etc of PORSCHE 550 Spyder (550-0071)
I would really appreciate any Infos or hints which
I could follow to find out more about that car.
All the best
Arska

Zein and I have discussed this car a while ago, but the ownership history hasn't really matched up with the possible spyders. I will have another look to see if I can find something new

Welcome along here Mohsen and thanks for joining us here. Andrew Hosking is going to be the one to answer that question. Hopefully he'll see this.

Hi Everyone,
I looked in the forum but i didn't find anyone speaking about a 550 which began its life in Tunisia. Someone brought it during the GP de Tunis 1955 for the Bey's son ( Prince of Tunis) and it stayed with him 2 years until the creation of the tunisian republic in 1957. The car was then confiscated, and sold to a
french doctor who sold it again to a car dealer named Sorlin. Since that moment, we don't know what happened to the car. Maybe it was sold to an american who exported it??
