Andrew I am right to say that this same 550 04 always driven by Hans Hermann finish 3rd overall at the 4th and last Carrera Panamericana race some months later ?

550 04 to day is proudly exhibited by Porsche in their Stuttgart Museum

this article was saying that the 550 entered by the Porsche museum into the 2013 MM revival edition had raced in the 1954 edition which is obviously wrong
Now two questions if you have time to answer
Claude Storez raced 550 08 at the Agadir 1955 Grand Prix
On the below pic this car (car race number 44) by opposition to Annie Bousquet car race number 40) appear to be of a dark color now longer a clear grey as the one seen in Italy
Does that mean that Porsche sold 550 08 to Sonauto (Auguste Veuillet) who had it repainted in French blue ?
550 04 is the car in the Porsche museum ?
If so when was it bought back by Porsche ?

Veuillet bought 550-08 when he sold 550-05. 550-05 only had the pushrod engine and 08 had the 4 cam. It was painted French blue (but looks darker than the customer 550 blue.

Sorry---I believe Veuillet never owned 550-05.

As to "3 edition"...not sure what you mean. Only First Edition so far consisting of regular version, a Special Edition of 550 copies (few outside the Museum shop) and an Author's Edition (there were 34 only made and only one remains for sale from me).
