  • Drew, you made a fantastic job on restoring that 356A I am very surprised you have had a poor response to its sale. Like Justin says the market seems quiet after a long period of high prices. I just looked at Hagerty classic car price guide and they they state for a 1959 356A super the following:-

    £71,700 for a daily driver
£101,000 for a car in good condition
£124,000 for a car that might win a local car show
£242,000 for a Number one best you can get car.

I really wonder if the World wide specialised classic car auctions are the best option with a firm reserve. I think that would be my thinking but I have no experience of doing that. Of course you would have to pay I guess for the them to market the car.

    • Hi Roy
Thanks for the valuation breakdown, and Happy New Year 2026, I have not been advertising the 356 for the past year waiting for the market to settle and concentrating on the sale of my Messerschmitt KR201, which has now found a new home.
68 BTR is now back up for sale at the fair price of £80k.
Here is an article that appeared in the Jan-Feb edition of the US 356 Registry magazine.
      Regards
      Drew

This car is such an anomaly to me. A RHD 356 with USA bumpers from the factory. Must have been special order on the kardex??

Very kind of you to say Drew, Thank you! I'm interested in that Porsche Kuebel wagon of yours. I didn't realize Porsche made their own version. Can you post some additional shots of it?
