  • How to spend £75 ($120- ) in 1970

I posted these copies on DDK as I had talked to the owner in 1970. I believe this RHD Speedster is still around but I don't know who owns it. I realise $120- in 1970 was worth much more than now but even so what a price uplift from then till now. The owner was a friendly guy and well respected over here. This article was in the PCGB magazine in 1970 he also owned a 56 Carrera A but minus the engine ( chassis 58162) He raced the car and did much work on it. ( There is an article in the current 'Classic Porsche ' magazine' about that car. The owner is unfortunatly no longer with us.

Info from 45 years ago can make some interesting reading especially with regard to RHD Speedsters sold in the UK. They were minimal in quantity over here then. Also you can see the extent of rust in 1970 all those years ago. Rainy days didn't make for a long lifetime with regard to 356 cars

Thanks for sharing this interesting old story Roy. Sounds very reminiscent of my father's 75 dollar investment back in '68.

Thank you Roy. Unfortunately I can't see the pictures on the DDK site, at work, but can here.
