  • Thanks Henk for your wise comments
As far I know the original Dapferle was a 1949 split model but with several modifications
In particular the front bonnet was replaced by a very early one and the front wings replace by 1953 oval ones after a crash in 1953
Have you any idea why both the show car and the Shucco scale model have the back bumper back and no handles on the motor side ?
Have you had the opportunity to check that the show car has a real Porsche engine ?

    • Hi Henk

Another question re the famous Paul Ernst plate number WN(for Waiblingen) V 1/WN V2 and even WN V3 as I remember having seen several years ago a photo showing 3 different Porsches with these 3 numbers
As far as I know these plates belong to the Strahle family

At the Essich Oldendorp meeting Dapferle was displayed with the plate number WN V1 H

      Two questions :
Does that mean that Dapferle to day's replica belong to the Strahle family ie to Paul Junior who run the Strahle garage who still exist to day ?

        • I cannot close the Paul Ernst Strahle Dapferle story without saying some words on his long race carreer entirely dedicated to Porsches
Early 1955 Paul Ernst Strahle bought a Porsche 1300 that he race over 2 years 1955 and 1956 on various rallyes and race tracks
In 1957 he bought the famous metallic blue Carrera that he raced until the end of 1959 ie a 3 years period which is very long for a racing car
In 1960 he bought one of the first 356 Abarth Carrera GT (1002) but kept the Carrera that he still entered in some races in 1960 as the 1960 Targa Florio where he enter his 356 A Carrera for Herbert Linge when he was droving his personnal Abarth Carrera 1002 in the same race with a 6th overall for Strahle and a 8th overall for Linge

Until these last days before I dig out in his race carreer, I always thought Paul Ernst Strahle had several 356 Carrera but I was wrong
Indeed at the end of his 356 A Carrera racing life he raced a 356 B Carrera but it was a factory car (cf the 1960 Tour de Corse Victory)

Paul Ernst Strahle was more dispensious with the 356 Abarth Carrera as at the end of his race carreeer in 1963 he had own three (1002/1006 and 1020) out of the 20 off built

                              • This car who, from very far, try to look like a Porsche 356, was hand built in the 50's by an East Germany citizen despair of not beeing able to get a real one This car is very popular in Germany to day as she is part of the Grundmann museum in Hessich Oldendorp, museum who display it in many Old VW and Porsches meetings
For those of you who never had the occasion to go to Hessich Oldendorp and visit it I will start by a quick visit of this fabulous museum
