Just a small correction if I may
Otto Mathe died in 1995 so the Registry homage must be before 1995
        1988 ?
I am not sure of the date only know that it was Holyday number 6
If I may comment; I chaired Holiday VI in 1980, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, and Otto was unfortunately not there. That event made it into only one magazine and it was not called 'Holiday.'

I also attended a large Porsche gathering at Monterrey and Laguna Seca, California in 1982, and I believe Mathe and his car were there...and yes, a 356 Registry Holiday was coincidentally held during that gathering. Maybe that was the sixth west coast Holiday?

The sequel to the 1982 event was in 1998 and the 64/3 was, I think, also presented, of course, without Otto. I could look in the saved event program.

Both of those events were fantastic, almost Porsche overload, so memories are fuzzy as to particulars after these many years but I can only hope this note may help.

          • It was the 1982 West Coast Holiday. A buddy & myself drove my Speedster to the event. We had an early "camcorder" along and made some good videos. We had the cam going when Otto got in the 60K10 and was spinnin kitties on the Polo grounds where the concours was happening. It sounded like it was hitting on 2 cylinders. What a great event!

            • Bill Brown is correct, Otto Mathe and his car were at the Monterey 356 Registry Holiday in 1982, not 1998. The Monterey Historics races were at Laguna Seca at the same time, and it was the first time that Porsche was the featured marque at the races. As a result there were Porsches everywhere. (Porsche was the featured marque for the second time in 1998.)

I was working in Santa Barbara, California at the time, and my wife and I towed my 1964 356 SC GT to Monterey with my Vanagon camper. There is a Monterey County Park that overlooks Laguna Seca, and we camped in the Vanagon at a site overlooking the track. We watched some of the racing from our camp site, and some at other places around the track.

In my earlier posting I mentioned that Gene Babow was the one who invited Mathe to the Registry Holiday. Gene had visited Mathe in 1981, and wrote an article about his visit in the 356 Registry Magazine, February-March 1982, Vol. 8, No. 3, pages 24-25. Gene wrote that in spite of the language barrier between them, as Mathe spoke little English, that "we spoke autos and got along quite well". Gene stated that at the time of his visit Mathe still also had his two Gmund coupes. Gene wrote a second article for same issue of the Registry magazine, with the second one being about the Berlin Rome car. His article included eleven detail photos of the unrestored Berlin Rome car as it was at the time.

                • HA! While I am another BB but not of the stature of a Bill Brown or even a Jim Perrin, I did beat them to the answer before the question! I posted: "I also attended a large Porsche gathering at Monterrey and Laguna Seca, California in 1982, and I believe Mathe and his car were there...and yes, a 356 Registry Holiday was coincidentally held during that gathering."

Another Bruce, but certainly not an Anderson....

                          • The Dolomiti Coppa deloro race existed from 1947 to 1956
It consisted in a circle of 303,80 Kilometers around the famous ski resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo in Italy to be compeleted the quickest as possible
Since some years an historical revival is held every years
The 2015 edition is planned from July 23rd to July 26th

                              • One last question
In 1995 Porsche KG could have easily bought this car for their Stuttgart Museum
Instead they had a totally new car built by a famous coachbuilder
