Update: The seller said I could buy the car last Thursday evening. I was very excited and said I'd send the money in the AM.

He then called me Friday morning to tell me that he sold the car to another person that called around 10:30 PM Thursday and offered obscene $$...from what I gather around $55k.

Oh well. Some you win and some you lose. Money talks.

It was not meant to be. I personally think you lucked out. I have not been impressed with what I have read about the seller. Now you can concentrate on your other 356 and always keep an eye peeled for another. I don't even have my relatively rust free 55 insured for that much.
