Folks,

Now here is a mystery. Maybe you are the lucky owner of this Porsche or know of its whereabouts.

It was a lightmetal chassis...a very special car.

Love a good mystery! Okay, its a 6 series chassis # making it a Cabriolet? Light metal chassis? The panels were made from thinner guage steel sheetmetal or the entire chassis is made completely from aluminium? This was not a GT car but a one off special order? Justin

I have no real clue at the moment but I would consider this a GT chassis.

You're playing it very close to the vest Steve. You obviously have some information on this particular chassis # which relates to its importance. Will you be disclosing any of this info in your new Carrera book which is due out shortly? Justin

An early Cabriolet. Very little information. No Reutter codes as to paint, etc.

So its a 1953 Cabriolet, Too early to be a 4-cam car. I would have also thought this was too early for any special racing tweaks to be offered. I was thinking the really trick GT special order race package type 356's were not offered until about mid-1957? Alloy panels and the like. Justin

Well, 61009 was completed in 11/55 and is one of a few pre-A Carrera Cabs. A 4-cam was put into a spare cab car months earlier for Dr. Porsche.

Look forward to any new info Steve. Getting back to your earlier post about the first pre-A cab not being completed until November of 1955; how many '55 pre-A cab Carrera's were there. I would guess under 30 units.

Re 60199---it did go to Glockler, I have determined.

Looking forward to its release! If 60199 went to Glocker this body/chassis had to of been heavily modified.


Probably shot full of holes for lightness in typical Glocker fashion. No mistaking this chassis for a typical production unit I would assume?
