  • position of the fuel sender on BT6 and C

Although I am quite old I am very new in your 356 world
One question who could surprise you but at which I have not the answer :
My BT6 fuel sender was not working
I enquired Stoddart and Sierra Madre and they come back with the question
Is your fuel sender on the top or at the bottom of your fuel tank ?
Funny question for me as I ever thought that having the same fuel tank, BT6 an C cars should have their fuel sender located at the same place
My friend Bruno having 2 BT 6 in his shop for maintenance I open their boot and find the fuel sender to be at the same place than mine ie at the bottom
New question when looking at a BT6 cabriolet I found the sender to be at the top like opn the BT 5
    So my question is :
Is there a law ? or is it by chance ?

    Hello Gerard,

If your car is an early 1962 T-6 then the fuel sender is going to be on the bottom of the tank. This was a one year only deal and am not sure when in '62 it was phased out. The tank is also painted satin black unlike the later top sender versions which came in grey. I sold one of these tanks for a friend of mine several years ago and he was telling me how rare the tank was. He said, "boy someone with a late twin grille roadster would love to find this." Sure enough a guy in California restoring that exact car snapped it up and was so thankful to have found it. Hope this helps! Justin
