Justin 'suggested' a project for me after I sent him a e-mail with some pics which you are about to see!

Yesterday-1/6/13 our PCA Region had their annual planning meeting in Charlottesville, VA. The day before I was in one of our local drug store checking out and noticed a display of die cast cars.
HOPEING to find a 356 in the group I started looking.
Darn-no 356s to be found-HOWEVER to my amazement here was a neat looking 2010 GT3RS.
So I bought one for $5.99 in white.
That was Saturday-come Sunday and heading for the meeting I stopped by again and picked up 3 more GT3RSs. One more white, a black one and a dark silver.
GREAT I have my own fleet of GT3s now!

    Couldn't afford the real ones!!

In my 'collection' and I had forgot about this one since it was setting on a shelf with some models of airplanes that I flew when I was in the US Navy was a 1948 Roadster.
One is featured in this current Pano PCA mag.

    A model that I use the most is a 356B T6 Convertible.
I set this on top of the gas tank on my 1961 Roadster when I show it.

Here is a plethora of 356 Coupes that stay up in 'My Cave'!!
I found most of these in a grocery store.

Then there are the little ones that I probably found at a Wal Mart over the years.
    A 356, 911, 957 (I think) and a 917.

Its OK if your 78 and still prowl the toy section in the stores. Holiday Season is best!

The one I think I like the best is the 356 T6 Coupe with the surf board on top. I found this in Sarasota, FL.
For 20 years (1987 thru 2007) a friend and I would trailer my 17' sailboat down there to race it each March in our Mid Winter Regatta. This was usually a week after getting back from a Western US ski trip.
    Them was busy times.

What I really liked about this model is its one of the few offered with the top up. I'm one of those weird guys who prefers the look of the car with the top up versus down.

Here is the only model I own that I might consider to be collectable. I really liked it because it was a race car but the flare fenders and fuch alloys sold me. Its made of pewter and though small it does have some weight to it. Its #5 of supposedly 10 made but who knows I just bought it because I like it...

I like the red race car.

Before you get to build a model just look at this link below. The build is a Ferrari F40 but take it from me its almost un-believable.

Having used machine tools for 49 years I can see the turned and milled parts although very small are possible but the crankcases,
even the plug connectors wow, he must have had accss to a wide range of machine tools. To do the ignition keys probably wire erosion or laser. Are the crankcases diecast if so the die manufacture would be so expensive for a one off. Are they injection moulded again its the tooling to make first.

Can't get my head around it, the finished result shows a 911 model body alongside. I was confused by that first off.

Hope I get this link correct:

                http://haha.nu/consumerism/gadgets/11-mini-copy-of-a-ferrari/

I will post a few photo's of a 550A spyder 1:18 scale by Maisto on my next advice. This one made in Thailand you all probably have but if not its standard for a relativily low priced model is very good.

Now, a photo of the first 356 and one of a Norev Porsche Carrera RSR Martini. 1:43 scale made in France in 1974. This model seems to be worth quite a lot now. Mine is not pristine at all but its old and original.

                      Really nice models Roy.
I have been on a 315 mile junket today to see a friend who was wounded in Iraq in 2006.
I have a similar model of the 1st 356 but my rear deck lid doesn't open.
                      Hummm????

Great Models Roy! So the RSR 911 was a good investment? Thanks for link of that F40 model. The realistic detail is simply amazing. Below are a few shots of it.

Hi Dick, Your Porsche #1 model must a very early one maybe? Did you get to drive your 911 or 356 on this trip?
                        Thanks again! Justin

                          Dick,

The rear engine lid and front doesn't open on mine either! Your model has a better steering wheel than mine. I will look at making the photos of my 'A' models soon.

                              My front lid opens.
I checked it again last night (watching a football game playoff)!
                              The Ravens won!
                              :>))
                              It is a 1:24 scale!
