  • Help wanted prepping Dyno for the 911 engine

    Hi Everyone,

I have a Stuska water brake engine dynamometer and it's all set up for the four bangers, but it'll handle up to a theoretical 600 hp, and I want to set it up to take the 911 engine.

Trouble is, I haven't got a 911 engine to work with.

The issues are straight-forward: The 911, unlike the 356, has an external oil tank and cooler, both of which have to be provided for. The throttle shouldn't be a big problem, and I'm pretty sure the input shaft will also work just fine as-is. But I won't know till I get there!

So, I need a few parts... and I need to know what it is I'll need to know! For example, can I reasonably count on the oil hoses / lines all working pretty much the same? That is, one set will work, or are there variations I'll have to accommodate? etc.

I'm in the Oakland, California area, if anyone's local...

    Thanks for your insights,
    Richard

P.S. You can read up on the dyno here:

I'm usually good at these things but I haven't been able to figure out how to "PM" anyone! I'm certainly very glad to learn how! ...I'd contact Justin if I knew how to do that, either!

...So, I don't know how to find you through this site, however, YOU can find ME from my 356Coachworks.com web site. You can click on the link on my profile, or just type that into your browser. There should be sufficient contact information there!

BTW, this "PM" feature is something we as a community need - is there a way and I'm just an ignorant fool? Or is this something we need to prod Justin about?

Sorry about that Richard, There are few short falls with this Joomla version and a PM option is one of them. The next generation of software is out and the site will be updated shortly. The PM capability is definitely one of the items on the list. Thanks for your patience! Justin

I just noticed that my full contact info is visible on the ad I posted in the classifieds - look for an SC engine for sale. Then, you can contact me pretty easily!

            BTW, I'm available today...

            Regards,
            Richard

TonyG, if you're still out there...

...I've come up with a suitable 911 oil tank and some hoses. I also found an oil cooler that usually lives in the front right corner of the car, I think - what exact 911 it came from, I don't know!

Would like to revisit this topic. Please get back to me, thanks!

How's the 911 dyno setup coming along?
