        • OK, a little newer than the forum topic definintion, but thought I'd share a few photos. Taking a scenic fall tour with Cha and "Hygge" (Cha's funky green '88 Targa). Camping along the way. First night at Natural bridges, 2nd in Zion, 4th at Plaskett creek along Hwy 1. Then a saty in Sacramento for the week on business. Leaving tomorrow to go home via Yosemite and ???

            • On to California and Hwy 1. Pretty bleak, but fast, from Zion through Vegas, Barstow, Bakersfield, and Paso Robles. Overnight in PR in a hotel. We both needed a shower. We'd heard about the slide closure on Hwy 1, and this forced us to take a detour. The detour was sublime. A twisty rolling little 20 mile strip of asphalt through oak covered hills, ending in a steep ascent, and an even steeper descent to the coast. Tiny little road with endless 2nd gear, and even 1st gear corners. No guardrails and mistakes not allowed! Too much fun. Actually better than Hwy 1!

              • And a couple more. Evening drive to Lucia, about 17 miles up the coast. Saw some whales, about which Cha was very excited. Sunset. Then a blistering run back down to the camp at dusk. And here's the deal: for that entire 17 mile stretch we never encountered another southbound car! Clear air the whole way. Thank you super slide!

                • Looks like Nacimiento-Fergusson road to HWY 1 . We did the original 'Iron Butt' tour there in '96. Incredible drive.

                  • Wow, Dave!! That sounds like a fantastic trip with wonderful scenery. So different than New England driving. I really like the color of your wife's car. Thanks for sharing.

                        • Great photos Dave and thank you for sharing them here! I swear there were a couple in there that took me right back to looking at my Dad's old Christophorus magazines in the 1970's. Nice work and hope you had a safe journey home.

                          • Thanks Justin. Trip home was good. Nice day passing through Yosemite, and then the funky green Targa made seriously short work of the Mojave. Passed right by you about 7:00 PM last Saturday evening, and overnighted in Flag. Then a quick spring home the next morning. Here is one last photo.
