The event's re-founder Mike Moody touted a special Porsche to add to the other great models of aircooled Porsches on display and there was no disappointment. Tim Kuser brought 904/014 that has been in restoration since he bought it in 1976 as a racing wreck.

I straightened it's frame after Tim detached all the fiberglass. We got a full-scale blueprint from Porsche that gave all the info we needed, both in plan and elevation. It went away to various other specialists and got all of it's needs met with Tim being a hands-on 'general contractor' for the project, bringing it back to me for fitments and general 'bodywork' items now and again. It finally drives!

I looked at the "passenger seat" and decided I would not do a 'trial fitting' let alone take a ride! That space would fit only one going by the name of Jack Russell.

The event was a good one. Not too hot, not too cool, bright but cloudy, no rain at all and over 50 vendors. I actually 'swapped' a set of Brazilian chrome wheels, used (with used tires), for a seat of nice seats for my A Coupe. I would describe the seats as "like sports seats, maybe Speedster seats with adjustments and headrests." A good thing, 'meeting' and a mutual 'swapping'

At the end, as I spoke with Mike Moody, we realized that while there was a LOT of activity, it seemed as though the majority of buying and selling was between vendors, as there seemed to be less "buyers" than last year.

That has been evident at most swap meets now and again. I know that Adam Wright made a few stops to buy parts and 356s in the two days prior to the meet, as I was one who saw him on Thursday. He is (almost) a Parker Tyler clone...if I sell something I may need later, I know who to call.

The swap meets now are, as many are seeing them become as they evolve, great social events. The new faces and old faces get to meet, the 'old guard' gets to catch up with each other and new contacts are swapped or even introduced at the event.

I was introduced to Sonny Hodgson, all the way from New Mexico. He rebuilds horns and headlights and tools and the like. Great examples were on display and his prices are right. Nice guy, too.

It isn't a Keeping of Faith, it's a constant reminder of the camaraderie around old Porsches that brings out the best in people. I was approached by Eric Wills to see if anyone had asked about a missing envelope full of cash that he had found on the paving near my location. Nope....so he took the envelope to Mike Moody after I recommended counting it as found. Sure enough, someone came to Mike to see if on an outside chance anyone had found his envelope/money .....and the two were reconnected intact. THAT is the way it is supposed to work!
