Scary. I hope the driver in that one was ok. Those people are truly courageous. I'd have said they had stainless steel balls but that would be a discredit to Shirley Muldowney who had the biggest ones since not only did she drive at the highest level but had to deal with unbounded hatred from the other competitors.

I still want a 56 Nomad like the "help" vehicle in the photo.

I also remember being ecstatic to be making $1400 per month that year.

Making that kind of scratch in '76 would have made me happy too.

back in the early 70s I Bought a set of Pro Track tires 12 " wide for my 58 Corvette, tire store guys said I wouldn't be burning them off. lit them up right in the tire store about an 60 ft burn out. they had to evacuate the store for all the smoke.
hahaha those were the good days!
