After Jean Behra death the Behra Colotti was sold to the team American Comoradi
The car entered some formula 1 races in 1960 driven by Masten Gregory and Fred Gamble without success

On their side Porsche continued to improve their car
In 1962 the 8 cylinders type 804 won the Grand Prix de France with Dan Gurney at the wheel

What a nice series with a sad ending. Fast cars are always dangerous, but those of the Behra era were really dangerous. Can't imagine tempting fate in some of those. Thanks for taking the time to educate us Yanks with this thread.

Thanks Pat, I was 18 years old when jean Behra killed himself the 1st of August 1959
                          I still remember
My father was a fan of car racing and very young I had the opportinity to attend many races
I met and talked to immense champions like Juan Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss,Alberto Ascari and of course Maurice Trintignant and Jean Behra
                          I have rereea

                            Again an error
Justin could you explain why very often, what you are writing post directly without typing submit ?
I was saying that when nre reading my topic I discover a big mistake
I wrote that Jean Behra Colotti Porsche formula 2 did not race at Reims in July 1959 because Jean Behra was not happy of its performances
It is wrong as stated by the enclosed pic shawing the German and official Porsche pilot Hans Hermann at the wheel of this car at the Reims
formula 2 Grand prix that he finish 9th
So at this same race the Porsche 718 formula 2 race car and the Jean Behra Porsche raced together

Jean Behra works have always been supported by Porsche and shared with them
To complete this topic I have found a nice view of the Berlin Avus race track
