I'm just recovering form major back surgery and thought I would get on the 356 engine, nothing to heavy. any way I would like to plug the vents on the valve covers, is there anything I should do other than plug them.

Are they not working properly? Spitting oil in hard turns? If not, why not just clean them well, and make sure the check ball moves freely, then use them.
Yes, you can plug them and thats all that is needed, all venting will take place thru the oil filler on As, Bs, and Cs. I would suggest finding a set of unvented vavle covers. It would less work, free up time for other more imprtant tasks like cleaning parts, and they should be cheap as hell.
