    Guys,

    Despite the always-focus on the R Forum as to build dates and understandable interest when one sees a chassis number similar to one's one.

    So----all that said: Build completion dates appear neither on the kardex nor the COA.

    If you happen to be referring to the link topic at the R --- the info being passed around there is quite off. And the real build date of the car has nothing to do with the build date of the gearbox (that is built much earlier if I'm not mistaken!)

    Unfortunately, no one there seems to get it - that the Kardex date only identifies either 1) the date the car left the factory for transport to its new destination or 2) the date the car was first purchased by a new owner (usually a German customer on those ones) wherein the 6 months out warranty period date is also shown.

    Interesting to see how bad information seems to perpetuate and be recycled.

      Exactly.

      And this has gone on for years despite the expertise. Anyway----production finish dates are NOT on the kardex or COA.
