356 T5 no. 110471 a twin front mount trans. car?

Years ago I put a type 741 twin front mount transaxle in my 1960 T5, yet I've been informed that my car was originally manufactured with a single front mount. Is this correct?

I don't remember having to convert the car from a single front mount to the twin mounts. It was a long time ago (40 years); and yet, I do have twin front mounts.

Sorry if I'm being dense, but why do I have twin mounts when my car is supposed to have a single front mount transaxle?
