    Gang,

There is an interesting conversation on the R Forum begun by Mark Roth as to his radio.

If you are curious, I have the brand and specific radio numbers for all the 4-cam cars...and...for many other of the earlier cars.

Let me know if you are curious as to yours.

    Steve,

Just saw your generous offer to let us know the brand and radio # of our cars. I'd like to know mine #58295. Thanks. Btw love your book.

        Hi Steve,

A fellow enthusiast and friend has a 53 with the radio missing, but faceplate present with no manufacturer name. When I was at the Porsche Museum a few years ago I took a pic of the exact same radio but can't make out the name on the faceplate, only some letters "KIKADE" I think...

I'll send you an email (the one from your website Big Lake Media) with the VIN #.

If possible can you post the manufacturer of the radio? Many thanks for your help!

Through doing more research I learned that the radio was made by Zikade. http://antique-autoradio-madness.org/Zicade/Zicade_def.htm

Steve - If possible, can you please let me know if the records indicate whether or not a Zikade radio was originally ordered with the VIN of the car I emailed you.

Trevor, did you notice the 'Factory' let a later tach (shallow face and white pointer) be used in the '53 you pictured.....and when did banjo steering wheels cease? In the '60s and early '70s I had 51604 and 51605 and a '53 Cab that I don't remember the VIN for ....and they did not have that wheel, but the '51 I sold to Doc Brett did.

              Doug,

58295---happily for you--is a Carrera. See the new book. It did not have a factory installed radio.

              Trevor,

Please send me the chassis number.

                Trevor,

I am sorry to say that the chassis number you gave me is early enough to be on a group of pages where the last column (the radio one) was not copied...although I think the radio number began with a '5'.

Steve - Thank you kindly for checking! Is it possible to look up if any other cars had the Zikade radio and then look at your records to see if that car had a number that started with "5"?

Bruce - The black car at the Museum is "Ferdinand". As they state a "test bench", so I wouldn't expect everything on that car to be correct/original.

Thanks Steve. We talked awhile ago about getting together some time when you're in PB. I'm in Carmel. Let me know if you want to go out to lunch. Doug
