ID:	86558 and many other 356 that Vance may help me finding

But this arrival by number of the sporty Porsche 356 did not please the "cacique3 members of the technical comittee of the Monte Carlo Automobile Club (rally organisators)
All the 356 were diqualified after the arrival for being 2 cm too low in regard of the homologation documents

      • Gerard .. it is incredible that all the 356 cars were disqualified! You would think the "committee" would have inspected "all of the cars" build specifications before the race just to qualify.

        • Hi Michael

May be I have a bit exagerated saying that all the 356 were disqualyfied but what is sure is that the technical judges have diqualyfied the ones arrived in good position
As you will read on the enclosed newpaper extract they did the same in 1966 with the Mini Cooper disqualyfied for a silly reason with their headlights after they had achieve 1-2-3 and 4

Indeed the minis won in 1964 and 1965 and that domination did not pleased the conservative Monaco Judges

                • Hi Vance

                  Never seen this pic before
Difficult to identify where this pic was taken as their is no building visible only spectators
The country is obviously Germany or Austria (Metzeler tyres publicity)
It is not Nurburgring, neither Solitude GP
                  Year 55-56 ?

                  Sorry

                    • After reflexion I think now that both pics were taken in Austria during one of the many races held on various airports (flughaffen in German) of either Zeltweg, Innsbruck, or Wien Aspern between 1950 and 1970 as the following pics od Richard von Frankenberg and his various 356 Carrera
                      Wien Aspern airport 1958

                      • Sorry the first pic represent Richard von Frankenberg in 1958 but not on the Wien Aspern airport but on the Innsbruck airport
The car is not the same (the car on the second and third pics has a Dutch registration)
The Zeltweg car has the front painted in white exactly as on the car Richard used in the 1953 Monte Carlo rallye

                            • Another view of the grid at the start of the 1958 Wien Aspern sport cars race
356 every where, the poor Giuletta race number 81 seems lost
