  • Bosch capacitors factory installed?

At some point someone installed these Bosch capacitors, probably for restricting feedback in the radio. They are obviously old and had been there a long time. Has anyone ever seen these in a factory installation?

I have had the two 'suppressors ' fitted on my car from the 1960's in the same places one clamped to the earth on the generator the other to the clamp on the fanhousing above the coil.
But mine are longer and I think IMHO they were fitted when the car was delivered to the UK importer AFN who then fitted the Motorola valve (tube )radio. I re-painted mine black and they have always seemed to have worked well suppressing noise on nearby radio's etc.

      From Charlie White's pages

      http://derwhites356literature.com/356PorscheBoschElectrical.html

      The EMKO 9 Z 17 Z capacitors were used in 2 places.

      - Ignition coil, terminal 15
      - Voltage regulator, terminal 51
